Jim Hanft is a fantastic singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles. Originally, he wrote songs to make his brother's friends laugh and his mother's friends cry. Little did he know at the time that he was building a foundation of what would make Jim Hanft such a unique singer/songwriter.
In the Spring of '09 during a routine tour of the north east, Jim signed to Veranda Records by Swedish producer, Lasse Mårtén (Peter, Bjorn and John, Lykke Li, Shout Out Louds).
In August Jim traveled to Stockholm and Decibel Studios to record his forthcoming album, due to release in october 2010.
Having graduated from Film school Jim's music and lyrics carry a visual, cinematic like quality. Through writing an original folk score for an independent feature and having numerous songs on a major FOX television show, Jim has become a sought after songwriter throughout Film & TV. During a month long residency at Hotel Cafe (Los Angeles), Jim was approached to a write an original song for the feature film "Peach Plum Pear," to be used alongside Devendra Banhart, Little Joy and Joanna Newsom.
Jim Hanft är folk-rocktrubaduren från Los Angeles som har haft sin musik spelad i MTV’s ”Real World” och ”So You Think You Can Dance” på FOX och som nu, med svenskt skivbolag, släpper EP’n “Burn Me In My Boots”.
Det var efter en av Jim’s spelningar i New York 2009 som Jim Hanft träffade det svenska independentbolaget Veranda Records och producenten Lasse Mårtén första gången. Strax därpå var Jim i Decibel Studios i Stockholm för att spela in uppföljaren till 2008 års debut “Backyard Waltz”.
Resultatet av inspelningarna blev en EP och ett album producerat och mixat av Lasse
Mårtén (Johnossi, Timo Räisänen, Lykke Li, Peter Bjorn and John, Shout Out Louds mfl).
Medverkar gör bland annat de svenska musikerna Rikard Lidhamn och Magnus Olsson (Oh Laura mfl), Anders Pettersson (Deportees, The Perishers mfl) och den amerikanska sångerskan Samantha Yonack.
